Saturday night the American Modified Series rolled into my home track for the $2000 to win special. 37 of the top UMP Modified drivers in the country were on hand to battle for the top prize. I qualified 9th in group A starting me 5th in my heat race. I battled Jeff Leka and Mike Harrison in my stacked heat race and came away with 4th, the last transfer position to the A-Main. I rolled off the A-Main in 13th and made another memorable run past national and series front runners to take home 2nd. By transponder scoring I had the fastest car on the track that last 5 laps and was right on the bumper of winner Mike McKinney. Next weekend will be a pair of races at Fairbury. Thursday in conjunction with Illinois Sprint Week we’ll be running for 1K and the event will be on MAVTV later this summer. Saturday is a regular night at Fairbury in one of our final tune ups for the upcoming UMP Summit Modified Summer Nationals running mid-June to mid-July.
